PVD coating is a recently developed
technology ideal for enhancing the
surface resistance and durability
of materials subject to heavy-duty
applications. What's more, the
treatment confers an appealing
colour. That's why MEDAL has adopted
the technique for its brass and
die-cast aluminium handles, thus combining good looks with maximum
surface resistance over time.
The treatment is wholly environment-
friendly and consists in
applying a zirconium nitride layer
under controlled atmosphere conditions,
an undisputed improvement
over the traditional and highly polluting
chromium plating technique.
Other advantages of PVD coating
include:
- high abrasion resistance;
- high corrosion resistance;
- long-lasting and persistent
colours capable of safely withstan
ding high temperatures;
- enhanced appearance;
- no processing-derived pollution.
PVD coating is decidedly an aesthetic
enhancer making for easy
adaptation to all installation
requirements. The special colours
and materials used for the handles
undergoing such treatment make
them especially suitable as fixtures
for important doors and windows.
